Vital Signs and Measures

All measures, including the measures within the Vital Signs, are equally weighted.

Peru could improve in several areas of personalised healthcare.

Peru has existing digital capacities in cross-border health data sharing and an increased amount of legislation allowing patients to access healthcare data held in EHRs. It has a strong foundation to build on cancer registries and universal healthcare coverage (UHC). Peruโ€™s population is to a high degree willing to use connected health devices. However, Peruโ€™s areas of focus to improve on should involve several of the fundamentals of personalised healthcare, such as building up the healthcare workforce to increase the number of practising physicians, reinforcing data infrastructure, making additional research and development funding available, and promoting the use of electronic health records (EHRs) in healthcare facilities. In addition, the uptake of wearables remains low in the country and further efforts surrounding access to digital education and the internet could significantly improve connected care. Peru should also address the implementation of telemedicine and improve genetic screening for diseases.
