Vital Signs and Measures

All measures, including the measures within the Vital Signs, are equally weighted.

Ecuador can make advances in many areas of personalised healthcare.

Ecuador possesses high-quality cancer registries and invests in research and development (R&D). The country also provides quality treatment outcome data in accessible patient registries, sharing critical information needed to make personalised healthcare decisions. The use of at-home health products in Ecuador are fully reimbursed by private health insurers. The country is stable when it comes to social mobility and access to funding for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the financial sector. Moving forward, Ecuadorโ€™s priorities should include a strategy to adopt electronic health records (EHRs). More progress is needed in Ecuadorโ€™s personalised healthcare efforts, including building capacity in the healthcare workforce, developing evidence-based guidelines, and improving on the low uptake of wearables among the population. The Index demonstrates Ecuador has room to grow in the supportive infrastructure for personalised medicine such as increased healthcare coverage, access to the internet, and willingness to engage in public-private partnerships.
