Vital Signs and Measures

All measures, including the measures within the Vital Signs, are equally weighted.

New Zealand has many of the essential foundations for personalised healthcare.

Most notably, New Zealand has a strong data infrastructure and data collection capabilities. However, there are several areas that the country can strengthen. New Zealand currently lacks an explicit policy, strategy, or plan related to personalised healthcare. In addition, despite high levels of connectivity and access to enabling technologies, New Zealand has a relatively low usage of electronic health records and the interoperability of health data is limited. To improve its positioning, New Zealand could emphasise the development of plans and strategies for personalised healthcare, increase investment in research and development, take greater advantage of its digital infrastructure, and strengthen incentives for the use of digital services and personalised treatments in care.
