Vital Signs and Measures
All measures, including the measures within the Vital Signs, are equally weighted.
Like Ethiopia, the advancement, access and application of novel health technology is one of Tanzania’s strengths, largely due to a high number of health information systems foundations and the relatively good protection of intellectual property. The index rankings on the quality of laboratories and the bolstered role of NHRAs in pharmaceutical regulation in Tanzania suggest that health services are supported by credible institutions. Given the trust the Tanzanians have in the government and the political stability in the country, there is scope to focus on broader factors in the ecosystem: increasing access to clean water, electricity and education, and alleviating poverty would improve the overall levels of sustainable healthcare delivery and innovation. Furthermore, the level of HIV testing and epidemic detection capacity also reflect a commitment to detecting emerging public health threats, which ensures that healthcare is not interrupted. As in many other African states, increased staffing would further improve access to treatment in Tanzania.
